Fly the flag proudly. Underlying these important symbolic acts is I believe an urgent need to have many Australia-wide conversations about the attitudes between indigenous and non-indigenous Aussies. Underlying negativity acts as a resistive force to real change and a lasting reconciliation. To bring about lasting real change there is a need to remove the resistive forces to that change occurring. I have tested this in life. The time is right in the lead up to the 2013 referendum to have these conversations. We must have a foundation of positive attitudes by non-indigenous Aussies towards indigenous Aussies and vice versa. The whole issue is clouded by many Aussies having come in recent years from countries where the problems for indigenous Aussies are largely unknown. Also we still have the red neck Aussies with entrenched negative attitudes.

Yes fly flag. It is an important symbolic act.
Also get serious conversations going Australia wide to ensure that non-indigenous Aussies really understand indigenous Aussies. This is vital as a build up to the 2013 referendum to recognise indigenous Aussies in the Australian constitution. See blog Bennethon on Blogger for one such conversation.

It's a no-brainer, really! Of course the flag should by flown on the sydney harbour bridge, and in every town in Australia. it's time to grow up and embrace every aspect of our past and future here in Australia. R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
