Inspiring Conference a Success
 
The NSW Reconciliation Conference 2009 was a tremendous success. It was described by NSWRC CEO Leanne Townsend as 'an inspiring conference that built positive relationships and developed strong new networks.' A recurring theme from the conference was 'reconciliation is what we make it'.

New Councillors Elected
 
The NSWRC Councillors were elected at the Annual General Meeting held in mid November. The new Council Members will provide strong leadership for the organisation over the next year. The office bearers that form the Management Committee were also elected to lead the organisation.

Small Grants Launched
 
Co-Chair David Crew launched the NSW Reconciliation Council's Small Grants program for 2010. The small grants program aims to foster reconciliation at the grassroots level. The Small Grants Information Pack and Application Form are now available on the NSWRC website. Applications close on Friday 29 January 2010.

NT Intervention and Racial Discrimination Act
 
The Federal Government recently introduced a Bill to reinstate the RDA in the NT in 2010. However, in order to do this the Government has expanded the discriminatory and paternalistic policies to take in more disadvantaged Australians. ANTaR - There is a Better Way
 

ANTaR has launched its "A Better Way" campaign. The campaign aims to highlight that there is a better way to work with Aboriginal people than the coercive and stigmatising approaches still continuing under the Northern Territory Emergency Response (NTER) and related Aboriginal policies.
