| Dear Reconciliationist, |
| |
NSWRC has hit the ground running in 2010.
We have already launched the Schools Reconciliation Challenge, held a stall at the Yabun Festival, started processing Small Grants Applications and begun planning for Reconciliation Week and the Reconciliation Conference. The NSWRC Management Committee will also be meeting this month to select the small grants winners and discuss project and campaign strategies. |
| |
It is now February and it is time to rally the troops. NSWRC needs you to get involved and take action!
Ways to progress the movement this month:
- Join the Stop the Intervention Collective Sydney, NSWRC, ANTaR, NSW Aboriginal Land Council, The Greens and the Unions in protesting against the Northern Territory Intervention at the National Day of Action on Feb 13 at the block in Redfern.
- Contact your local Primary and High school to encourage them to get involved in the Schools Reconciliation Challenge and pass on information and resources about the competition. Click here to find out how.
Let's get active early this year, this decade, and make a real push to raise awareness, grow the movement and advocate for social justice.

| Yours in unity, |

The 2010 Yabun Festival was a great success with thousands of people attending and celebrating the survival and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.
NSWRC had a stall managed by staff and volunteers. Many new people signed up to this e-newsletter and showed interest in the work of the Council. Thanks to all our volunteers and hello to our new friends. |

4-Feb-2010
Inquiry should focus on alternatives to incarcerating Indigenous people
“This inquiry could really help to turn the tide by looking into the life-saving and cost-saving potential of approaches such as justice reinvestment which diverts a portion of funds earmarked for imprisonment expenditure to local communities with a high concentration of offenders.” |
