The Nganampa Health Council has contributed to a significant improvement in conditions and services in remote indigenous communities, Health Minister John Hill says.
Mr Hill visited the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands for the fifth time in five years last week.
He said conditions had improved markedly on the lands and the facility was so successful because it was run by indigenous people and others who understood community issues.
The Advertiser revealed yesterday that indigenous children aged under five are three times more likely to die than non-indigenous children and they are dying at a rate comparable to some of the world's poorest countries.
