It may be the most maligned piece of swimming attire ever, but a surprising number of Sydney footballers have lined up to wear budgie smugglers in public tomorrow.
Wallabies star Drew Mitchell has just confirmed he will strip down to a neon cossie and take part in Strut the Streets, a parade of barely-there swimwear that raises money for the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Scheme, AIME.
Mitchell is not alone. Dean Mumm, Pat McCutcheon, Jeremy Tilse and Nathan Trist - all from the NSW Waratahs - will also march with an expected 300 people through Martin Place at lunchtime tomorrow, undaunted by what the uncharacteristically cool summer temperatures might do for their street cred.
Funds raised during Strut the Streets will help AIME match more university students with indigenous school students to help them finish school and make the transition to tertiary study.
