Top honours for Bangarra

Indigenous company Bangarra Dance Theatre was the major victor at last night's Australian Dance Awards, winning outstanding performance by a company for its production Fire: A Retrospective. Its artistic director Stephen Page was presented with the services to dance award.
The annual awards, announced before the nation's dance elite at the State Theatre, recognise dance professionals across several categories including choreography, design, performance, dance writing and teaching, and were this year drawn from more than 450 nominations.
