Bennelong & Surrounds Residents for Reconciliation

Project: Voices for Reconciliation

Project Description: This project required funding to engage Indigenous performers & presenters to lead workshops for students of local primary schools. These workshops will cover Didgeridoo lessons, Traditional dance, stories and explanations of Welcome to Country’s and Smoking Ceremony’s. Participating schools are also going to be provided with story books by Indigenous authors.

Funds Granted: $3000
 

Blue Mountains People for Reconciliation

Project: Blue Mountains Schools Reconciliation Challenge

Project Description: Through our Small Grants program NSWRC is funding 10 workshops in schools with Local Indigenous artists and LRG members to facilitate entries in the NSWRC Schools Reconciliation Challenge. There will also be a local exhibition of selected artwork from participating schools on Saturday April 30th. 4 entries will be awarded with prizes.

Funds Granted: $3000

 

Kyogle Local Reconciliation Group

Project: Kyogle Reconciliation Week

Project Description: Kyogle will host a Community Day during Reconciliation Week involving a march through the town, speeches, and family activities. There are three lead up events including Elders sharing stories and a screening of Our Generation.

Sutherland Shire Citizens for Native Title & Reconciliation

Project: ‘Journeys into Understanding’

Project Description:‘Journeys into Understanding’ – Aboriginal History & Culture 1 day courses.These day courses have been running for a number of years and have been previously funded by grants from Clubs NSW. This LRG plans to run this day course three times this year. The course it targeted towards non-Indigenous people and covers Aboriginal history, culture, and contemporary issues. Bush Walks are also offered to course participants.

Funds Granted: $760

The small grants program aims to foster reconciliation at the grassroots level. A broad range of events and activities are funded through the initiative.
